Please keep in mind when the temp is 95 or above a fan is useless. A fan does not cool air it just moves it. When the temp is 95 or over you make a furnace effect using one and it may be drawing more hot air into the area than what is there. With that said fans may help balance the air temp in a house of course it will vary between one story and two story. I suggest you Google for this info the A/C and fan makers provide some great info on making each source the most efficient and cost saving ideas. PS don't forget to keep the glass of lemonade close by it helps also lol.

If you turn it off you have to prop it open. There are very few things that stink worse than a refrigeratory closed and unplugged.

Amen! Chunk the condiments and turn the fridge off. Much cheaper to replace them than pay to keep them cool.

Statistically speaking being in the solar screens business for many years I can tell you a little about energy use.
Peak of the summer months energy use in the following situations:
Average condo monthly average $150 electric bill per month.
Average 2000 square foot home single story $350 electric bill per month.
Average 2000 square foot home two story $285 electric bill per month.
The month of May is not nearly at the peak of the season and you need to find out the culprit of the waste.
