I'm looking to move to the Valley next year for grad school (UNLV) and was wondering if there are any apartments in relatively "safe" areas for under 600. Location is not important (I have a car and am not looking to be close to anything in particular), I just would prefer someplace I don't have to call Metro every week. I've seen a lot of 1bd apartments for that price range, but they all seem to be in the worst parts of town. Thanks for your recommendations!

Try around Buffalo and Vegas/Washington or Durango and Alta. Lots of suitable units.

Look for a guest house or casita, decent places in quiet neighborhoods can be had for under your target price.
Good luck.

Here's a casita in Southern Highlands (good area!) for $525 (incl. utilities) even has a private swimming pool!

Casita w/full bath for rent - utilities/pool/courtyard included

Cheers!

The thing I would have to ask is what about a kitchen and washer/dryer? I see no mention of either in the ad. Unless there is house privileges, this is a rip off. On even closer inspection, they did not even include a phone number. When you add in the ridiculous deposit, something is definitely wrong here.

It was just an example, he/she may not have been familiar with the casita and/or guest house concept. It just seemed like a better fit for a grad student than a noisy apartment or condo. There are many more but I got an infraction for advertising just for recommending an eBook so I'm a little gunshy about posting links.

BTW, any luck finding employment? Hang in there, I hope things improve soon.
