Has anyone done the helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon? Any recommendations of which company to use?

personal opinion....
#1 Helicopters can't fly....they are so ugly that the ground repels them.
#2 There have been FAR to many times in the last few years where the ground has failed to repel them.
#3 In MOST cases...tour pilots have the VERY LOWEST flight time.

You can kinda see where this is leading.

It is leading to an up close and personal view of the Grand Canyon.

My wife has. She was on a business trip in Tempe, AZ several years ago and used Papillon. She absolutely loved it and still raves about it. Although I wasn't with her on that trip, when we went to Hawaii we both used Papillon for helicopter tours of Kauai and the Big Island. Both were exceptional.

I agree. Until you are not there. There is more to fall than just the dying plant life (it is pretty, but yes a grim reminder, IMO, of nasty winter) that makes you miss it. Cider mills, the smells, the chill in the air, (not cold, just a chill after a hot summer), Halloween with crunching leaves, real pumpkin patches...that kind of stuff is what you miss when you don't have it. That said, I still would rather just visit a place like that than live there because of winter.

I went to the North Rim for a day trip. The ride was beautiful through UT and the GC was just as it is...Grand. Beyond words. I liked that it was cooler there and the fact that we had to stop to let the buffalo roam was very cool! I am so glad we chose to do the North Rim. I have friends who went to the Sky walk and while they said it was very cool, it was a rip off and the unpaved road was horrible. They rented a car which was white when they left and brown when they returned.

I want to be just like Buzz when I grow up! I do wish that I had gone to all these places when I was younger to be able to hike them. I doubt I would make it very far today and I know my husband wouldn't be able to, even though he is much younger, his knees are shot. So, I live vicariously through Buzz!

Buzz lives vicariously through Buzz these days. I can no longer do that stuff. Well, I could but it would only be in case I decide to do an exotic suicide.

I took my sisters to the Grand Canyon one time and put them on a helicopter back when you could still fly beneath the rim. I shudda saved my money because my oldest sister kept her eyes closed the whole flight. I'm glad they have to fly high above the rim now. The noise could really ruin the experience for hikers back then.

To each his own. I don't know what a cedar mill is (I guess I have a vague idea, just never been to one) and I have never been to a pumpkin patch. I love Halloween but would prefer to be someplace warm enough to wear a skimpy costume while I barhop and not freeze. Crunching leaves are just a mess on the ground. And I do not like any chill in the air whatsoever. Anything under 75 is too cold for me anymore. I've never enjoyed fall activities like bonfires, football, hot chocolate, and hoodies. I am too busy mourning the passing of summer.

Ask me in 5 years, but I can guarantee I will NOT miss the seasons changing, and will certainly never miss fall or winter.

Ahh...I just figured Iowa had cider mills. Yes, I mourn the passing of summer, sometimes I mourn it in August! LOL! Today I read 101ºF on my car thermometer...in MI! UGH. Talk about a steam sauna! Give me the dry one any day! And, btw, not sure about that skimpy costume in Oct. in LV, maybe under the canopy! Then again, Mother Nature can fool you! The trees do change in LV, just a little later than in MI. But, on Mt. Charleston, they were absolutely stunning! So, I can get my fill up there of any season change if I need it. Quite possibly my fall memories are associated with what we did as kids and what I did with my kids and I will always miss that. For me, I agree, I am ok without being in it.

It was in the upper 90s yesterday and they were calling for high heat indexes...yeah our humidty stayed below 50% so it didnt happen. I was disappointed! I wanted it to be hotter!!!

I've worn a skimpy costume when it is 40 and raining, anything would be an improvement LOL
