I'm planning on movie to Henderson and have about $5000 saved up. I'm 23 single with no kids and just a dog. My best friend lives out there and her dad said I could live with them if i wanted but I kind of want to have my own place.

Have you found a job yet? Moving out here without a job is a bad idea. I would think you would want to set $5000 aside just to get out of here if it did not work out.

23, single, no kids.... I assume OP is female...

This is Vegas. She might be able to find a job much faster than a lot of us.... Just sayin.

$5000 is a lot of money to move on if you don't have a lot of stuff. You could probably manage to "move" for a few hundred dollars in gas, and use the rest of the money to live on until you find gainful employment.

(Did 10 people "rep" you one this one single question?)

not yet but i'm looking at and applying for jobs on different sites like monster.com. I would definitely work as a waitress/fast food or just any type of job I can grab. I know I can't be picky when I first get there

and yes I'm a female. I didn't see your post till just now. I don't have a lot of stuff either. just bedroom stuff like a bed, dresser, a little nightstand thing and a couple of small shelves. I have a pickup truck so I was just going to drive out there. I figured it'd be around 300 for gas to drive instead of over a 1000 to rent a uhaul.

My advice....move in with your best friend UNTIL you get a job, then get your own place. $5,000 will go a long way without rent. I live on only $350 a month for everything except rent and utilities. Once you add those in, I am up to $1,000 a month. In other words, that $5,000 could easily last you a year if necessary.

Not being rude, but read up on the employment threads in this (Vegas) forum.

Even *those* jobs are hard to come by out here. The only people getting hired here either have exceptional skills/education in their desired field or look good in a thong, and knowing someone on the inside is almost a must. Tough times right now.

Again, not being rude. Just don't sugar coat things about moving out here. Vegas is on the rebound, but it will take longer here than other large cities around the country. Depending on your situation, it might be better for you to hold off for a couple years.

oh i know any type of job can be hard to get, I noticed a lot of them want at least a year or more experience, and it's ok I know you're not being rude,

This might sound sexist, but it's really not: if you're young and good looking you shouldn't have much problem finding work. Every 20 something female I've known that's moved out here has found a job. No, not all of them became dancers.
