The DMV website lists the following definition of a resident:

Nevada Revised Statutes 482.103 "Resident" defined.

"Resident" includes, but is not limited to, a person:

Whose legal residence is in the State of Nevada.

Who engages in intrastate business and operates in such a business any motor vehicle, trailer or semi trailer, or any person maintaining such vehicles in this state, as the home state of such vehicles.

Who physically resides in this state and engages in a trade, profession, occupation or accepts gainful employment in this state.

Who declares himself to be a resident of this state to obtain privileges not ordinarily extended to nonresidents of this state.

The term does not include a person who is an actual tourist, an out-of-state student, a foreign exchange student, a border state employee or a seasonal resident.

you can apply for a seasonal ID card which allows you to conduct business in Nevada without changing your drivers license. When you complete the Driver's License/ID Form, check Seasonal ID. You must have an address or mailing address to obtain a seasonal ID.

Seasonal Resident ID Cards (Nevada ID Cards)

NAC 481.005 - A "seasonal resident" means any person who is not a "resident" as defined in NRS 483.141 and who:
  • Temporarily resides in this State for a period of at least 31 consecutive days in each calendar year;
  • Maintains a temporary residence in this State;
  • Returns to the state or jurisdiction of his residence at least one time during each calendar year;
  • Is registered to vote or pays income tax in another state or jurisdiction; and
  • Does not engage in a trade, profession, occupation or gainful employment in this State.
Seasonal resident identification cards are marked with a designation that the holder is a seasonal resident and is licensed in another state.

Sounds like if OP is coming here for work he wouldn't qualify for this.. sounds like a license is the way to go.
