Most station casinos charge $10 to watch the UFC fights and they have betting on the fights.

So far after being in Vegas for about 3 months I have lost about $7.00. It would be less if I found the penny slots.. I do feel my gain will come from the buffets once I find a good one..

I love betting on sports (specifically college football). My theory is to bet early in the season before the odds makers have the teams and stats figured out with enough statistical data to create the lines. Typically lines are around -110 meaning you can bet $11 to win $10 or $110 to win $100. You can either choose a side team A or team B, or you can bet the over/under on the total score of a game. When you go to a sports book there will be 3 digit number next to a team. You can then go to the teller and say I want to take 315 for $110 (you can even say the team name if you want but it's easier for both sides if you give them the number you want). Always make sure to check your ticket. Las season I put a $330 bet on a team and I lost, but I checked the ticket and I either said the other team or the teller mistakenly gave me the other team. Either way I won $300 when I thought I had lost. There are also a few other ways to bet the games, but these are the most common. Also, you will be amazed at how closely the bookmakers set the lines.

A question - can you back a tram 'straight up' on the day (ie without the spread) for the Superbowl?

Certainly. Just remember that the odds will be very different.

Look near the exits (the casino's do that so they can get every last cent before you leave).

Aha, I understand that. I guess I would need to actually go and ask at the counter as I certainly didn't see them advertised this Superbowl?

It is one of the many hundreds of bets that are offered by the sports books.

If you don't see the bet, stop at the sports book and talk to the clerks as that is what they are there for.

The largest single Super Bowl bet on record in Las Vegas was attached to San Francisco in SB XXIX. The line was the 49ers giving 18.5 points to San Diego, but the bettor dropped $2.4 million on San Fran on the money line. The game was a farce, with the Niners winning by 23. However, that $2.4 mil paid at just 1-to-8. Meaning all of that risk only paid off for $300,000. Of course, "only" is a relative term.

Thanks for that. It's obvious really - just a slow witted English guy needing a little bit of courage before actually TALKING to people....

Keep in mind Diamond Dog Nevada is one of the few states which allows sports betting. Many folks come to Nevada Las Vegas not knowing how to bet sports but want to. It can appear overwhelming when you look at a sports betting section in a casino. Unlike in England where betting shops are ever where and most people know how they operate here most people do not. So! the clerks who work the counters will guide and explain it is their job. You can also go on line (You Tube) for learning information and their is a mess of books on the subject. Happy betting.
