I'm probably opening up a Pandora's box with this Subject, But when have I ever been one to shy away from controversy?

I read a article in The LA Times, how Same Sex marriage has added $259M to NYC's income
Gay marriages: $259-million economic boost to NYC in one year - latimes.com

Wouldn't it behoove Nevada (and Las Vegas, the "marriage capital") to make same sex marriage legal In NV

What do YOU think, and why. [PLEASE NO HATE POSTS]

Jonathan

I don't see how it wouldn't boost numbers. They are going to have weddings, receptions, licenses and bachelorette/bachelor parties and divorces lol like everyone else!

Las Vegas used to be cutting-edge socially, way in front of the rest of the US. Why? Good for business.

Not anymore. The rest of the US as caught up or even surpassed Las Vegas. If we had leadership with brains (and cojones), we would not only embrace gay marriage, but also legalize drugs and prostitution. (Not that I'm equating gay marriage with drugs and prostitution.)

Besides, now that Amsterdam has put the kibosh on drug tourism, we have a GREAT opportunity to pull in that market.

Gay people should have the right to ruin their lives just like the rest of us, though I would advise against it.

If the religious right want to end gay sex, there's no better way than to let them get married and suffer with the rest of us.

I have often thought that Nevada was completely idiotic in NOT supporting gay marriage...Just imagine, all the cash those folks have, most of them Double Income, No Kids...the EXACT people Las Vegas WANTS to have!!! Lots of disposable income...for elaborate, over the top, extragavanza weddings...with all of their friends, most of whom are also DINKS folks...I would think, Las Vegas should greet these folks with a red carpet, not shun their business...

Always good business for a business to pander in order to grab any business it can. Money has no view on what some see as a moral argument...War is good for some business - providing you are not the one on the losing end. Traditionalists lose- but are paid to lose...what's wrong with that? Why stand up for principle and lose money? That is not what AMERICA is about. In Toronto the Pride Parade is always justified out of cultural reasoning- when that fails to work..They say it bring in millions -enhancing the economy- so- turn the other way and put you hand out and take the money-- long as everyone gets paid as they say- all is well.

You bet we need as many DINKS as we can get here. It would be a huge boon to the economy. I don't know how much more "Cher" this city can take. But you have to accept the bad with the good.

It's not going to happen, though. The hillbillies, bigots and rednecks exert too much influence in this state (and country).

You're equating two people getting married with blowing cities to smithereens? The only moral argument I see is that we allow some couples to have special property and personal rights and not other couples. There is no other argument as far as I'm concerned. If you don't like the idea of what homosexuals do with each other to put smiles on their faces, don't think about it.
