Speaking of traveling in Europe ...we were weren't we?

Has anyone flown from Las Vegas to Budapest? And has anyone done a Viking River tour of Yerp? And, this I could Google but it's more fun to ask y'all, are Hungary, Austria, and Germany all on the Euro?

My mother in law has done that trip. Fly Condor to Frankfurt and connect from there. Cheapest way. (Intra-Europe flights are FAR less expensive than regional flights in the US.) But Condor only flies a few times each week. So you may need to pad your vacation with some extra days in Germany. Bonus, if you ask me.

Hungary is not in the Eurozone.

Our good friend works for Viking River Cruises and has taken that trip. His honest opinion was that it was a nice trip, but overpriced for the average Joe. He got it for free (or a deep employee discount, can't remember which). There are some amazing cruise deals in Europe if you're flexible.

As far as feedback on the cruise and other travel once you GET to Budapest, you should post in the travel forum. You will get more responses, and it won't be off topic for LV.

It is most certainly on topic to discuss airlines that fly transcontinental from McCarran. There are only a handful of them. And flying them is usually a significant savings in both time and money. Flying direct can knock several hours off total travel time.

Eleven hours in a tin can isn't fun. But it's better than six hours in a tin can, two hours in an airport lobby and then another seven hours in a tin can.

Most people don't even know about Condor. It's a fairly nice airline, compared to the usual carriers.

I disagree that asking someone in LAS VEGAS about their experience in EUROPE is off topic.....it would be somewhat rediculous to ask that same question in a travel forum

If I read it right, Observer53 is not saying it's wrong to ask about flights from Las Vegas to Europe, but is saying I might get more replies about the river tour on the travel forum, and I agree.

I've never heard of Condor, Scoop. Are you saying they fly to Europe from Las Vegas? The tour begins in Budapest and ends in Nuremberg. We've always thought it was way overpriced but they are having a half price sale, and the time is just right for us in November. Probably be cold though, but Christmas Markets are in every city along the way. Also, their airfare from Las Vegas and back is about half what the airlines are showing.

We would like to spend a few days after the boat ride, but I know absolutely nothing about Nuremberg except for the Nazi war criminal trials.

Condor flies direct from Las Vegas to Frankfurt. And they're a budget carrier, so it's less expensive than Lufthansa or United. I sweet talk the gate attendants and flight attendants (in German) and get good upgrades -- usually first class, if there's an empty seat.

Neurnberg (Nuremberg) is one of the prettier towns in Germany. The reason we chose it for the trials is because it was one of the few places we hadn't blasted completely to hell. It's still a charming medieval town, surrounded by modern suburbs. I like the place. It's certainly more fun to visit than, say, Berlin, which is just another European big city when you get down to it.

Thanks, I'll look into that. We're back to thinking about Barcelona instead. Do they fly there from Las Vegas?

No.

If I'm not mistaken, Las Vegans can only fly direct to London, Frankfurt, Seoul and a few places in Mexico and Canada. If you don't own a Gulfstream, you're going to have to connect somewhere if you're flying to another city.

But you can't go wrong with Barcelona. It's one of my favorite places on earth. If you end up going there, DM me.
