Is it currently in it's death throe? My friend (the bartender) in the sportsbook keeps telling me he thinks they will close any day and have been cutting back services left and right. Can't say that it would surprise me, their customer service was always very poor...

The last I heard about the Hilton, they were supposed to be changing the name. Have not heard about it in awhile. Maybe they will be changing the name, changing the style and changing out the workers for new one's. Who knows. Nothing ever stays the same in Las Vegas for too long.

Yeah, Hilton yanked their name a while back, I just used it because it is what most people recognize, it's LVH now. They are in serious financial trouble apparently...

The last time I was down that way, over a year ago...we ended up at the Hilton's buffet because my husband was starving...you know how you guys are, you must eat or you turn into monsters. The food there sucked really bad. That alone would make me want to close the place down. But that's just me.

This is so sad. The property is old school Las Vegas, and when it was running on high, it was my favorite place to stay. Another new school bean counter property death I fear.

Found this item on the casino death watch website...

The LVH, the resort formerly known as the Las Vegas Hilton, is hurting without the Hilton brand to help back it up. It is expected to lose money this year with lower priced rooms and lower occupancy than in the last few years, during which it wasn't generating enough revenue to perform the improvements on the property it needed to in order to maintain the Hilton brand. So, this scenario isn't viable in the long term, and we don't know how long the short term lasts.

While not exactly on the Strip, the place still has a primo location relative to the convention center, and it has some other good things going for it, such as arguably the best sports book in the state. However, what it does lack is someone willing to invest in the place, and until either that happens or a wave of high rollers flood Las Vegas causing a massive demand for rooms, we don't see what else would pull LVH out of its current fall.

Once a king, doomed to becoming one of the biggest most lavish motel 6's in the world.

In my opinion, once the Star Trek Experience left, all was lost

So true. I was last in there many years ago, and loved that "old school" feel. Very sad.

More than most, this hotel's fortunes are tied to the convention business (given its proximity to the convention center.) I don't think that's doing so well. If the conventions can't keep it full, and it doesn't have it's Hilton affiliation to drive business it's way, it really doesn't have much of a reason to exist.
