Anyone know what happened to Slidin Thru (Durango/Centennial)? Stopped by today for lunch only to see closed!

They've been saying that about the location on Ft. Apache for a couple years now. I frequently eat at at Thai restaurant in the same shopping center, and the "Opening this summer" sign has been up for a couple summers now. I doubt it ever opens. Slidin Thru's burgers are nothing special IMHO, and nowhere near as good as the burgers served by the Fukuburger truck, so I won't feel like I'm missing anything if they never open.

Prices are too much for what you get. I didn't think it would last wrong. Is the Thai resturant your talking about next to the 7-11? I've been wanting to try it.

The Thai restaurant is "Thai Style Noodle House II".

Here are a couple of more I noticed tonight:

1. The Taco Shop at 215/N. Decatur had a sticker from the assessors office dated 9/14.

2. Just 3 doors down is Hogs Heaven BBQ. There was a hand written sign that said the owner got hit by a drunk driver so they had to close until November 1. I've eaten there and it was nothing special so I won't be surprised if it doesn't re-open though I feel bad for the owner.

What about that waffle place over there on Cent and Durango? Is it worth the cholesterol?

Waffles, definitely not! Ate at the location at Aliante and it was completely forgetful.

1) The people who understand that smoking ribs for five hours adds a considerable amount to the overhead, and thus the $30 price tag. Unfortunately for the BBQ joints, these people usually own their own smoker and are quite happy to do it themselves.

2) People who think par-boiled, grill-finished ribs equals "barbecue." These people get their ribs at Applebee's for $12.99 a slab. They get what they pay for. But they don't know from quality.

"Don't know from quality," seems to be a common thread to my food posts, lately.
some people may just look at the bottom line (price), and figure if its higher than the 12.99, it's too high. when i mention i want bbq, people usually reply with chili's. go figure!

hopefully the menu is just as good at this new location. some reports say 2013 opening, others say 2014. either way, its been too long.

Yeah, that's me. My latest thing is pork butts - about ten hours in the smoker, an hour in foil to rest, chop it up and serve it with a simple vinegar based sauce... YUM. Cheap cut of meat, too.

Going to try a turkey either this weekend or next. If it goes well, that's how we'll be doing Thanksgiving.

There was a steak place on Rainbow / Cheyenne that closed down a while ago. Always wanted to try that place, but never did. Oh well.
