First thought: yowza.
Second thought: kind of glad I wasn't an ER nurse in Henderson in 1988 (yes, sounds horrible, lol, but true)

The explosion site is a couple of miles from Green Valley, and is still and industrial/commercial area.

Glad to hear that BBMW. Because of the destruction in the area and resulting fear, I'm sure the land was a bargain out there for quite awhile. They turned it into an opportunity and good for them.

I like Brian Greenspun. I'm glad the family succeeded with their efforts.

I forgot to welcome you, Nurse B. Welcome to the valley.

Now you have a cool story to share with your friends back home.

If you watch the video, you'll notice there nothing around this plant, except for some other isolated industrial facilities (which was a good thing.) That the reason the land was cheap. There was lots of cheap land in metro Vegas (or just outside of what was then a much smaller metro Vegas) back then.

At my job, I happened to be on a radio frequency shared by one of the plants out there on that day.

Thanks so much , looking forward to getting there and becoming settled. The 2500 mile drive with my husband and dog: still on the fence about that.

They make Xanax for a reason

Also, when folks back home ask you where you live, (especially if they are nasty about it) you can say "I live in Ka*****in BOOM Henderson" and send them a link to the video.

I hope you and the DH and the doggie will be happy here. There's a couple good restaurants that I know of near Sunrise. Let me know if you need lunch info.
