Our Meyer lemon bore fruit after two years. My mother-in-law's mature "dwarf" trees yield more than a bushel each. Depends on the soil, sun and water, naturally.

People who are interested in gardening should find the cooperative extension -- the information is there for the asking. They hold workshops regularly, and offer an annual plant sale in the spring.

That sucks. I gave up on commercial dog treats. I just buy raw beef bones (made for soup) at the Mexican markets. It's cheaper, safer, and the dog likes them.

As far as organic veggie / fruit growing goes, I haven't found anything better than this:Book, Slam Dunk Easy Desert Gardening | Sweet Tomato Test Garden and a trip to Plant World.
