Mobile homes can make a great choice, depending on how lot rent measures up to apartment rent. I purchased a two bedroom mobile and, in less than three years, saved 10k in housing expenses to a comparable apartment building. Living in an apartment, it would have taken me at least another year to purchase my first house. If it wasn't for the flood, I would've been sitting pretty with $300/month in bills split between three people, and I'm not even 30.

I hadn't even looked at the apartment listings in Vegas to compare pricing, but I can name quite a few cities where you can find lot rent for $200+ less than a 3 bedroom apartment. That's 12k in five years, and that's enough to make a pretty significant difference for the average first time home owner.

Have you thought about getting an RV in ND? I lived in an RV for a few weeks and it was not so bad.

I lived in my camper for a few weeks last fall, and while I could do it for the long haul in a warmer climate, our summers are short and most RVs and campers aren't insulated for northern winters. I don't even know if our RV parks stay open year round, to be honest.

The restaurant where I work is making more money now than they did before the crash.
Which should tell us all something about the middle class in this country and in Las Vegas.
