Water Company sent a notice of constant flow through our meter, recent water bill confirms that we have a leak. I have isolated the water to the hours using an isolation valve in the garage and the water to the irrigation system and the water meter is still indicating a slow constant flow.

Can anyone recommend a leak detection service in Las Vegas, Spring Valley? Hard to believe i have a 800 gallon a day leak and can't see it.

Also does anyone know how deep the water lines are run here in Las Vegas

Thanks

I think you just wrote that you've isolated the leak to somewhere between the water meter and the point where the water supply connects to your house and irrigation system.

The supply line should not be that deep, not any deeper than where it connects to the water meter. Maybe 18" max.

My guess is it's under the driveway. Otherwise just walk around the property until you find the really spongy area of ground.

Did you pop the hatch for your water meter and confirm that it's still spinning?

There should be a law that the water supply CANNOT pass under the driveway. (And if that's physically impossible, the driveway must be constructed in such a way that the section above the water feed line is easy to identify and remove.)

American Leak Detector makes a specialty of it. Any of the larger plumbing operations generally have a guy and truck that specialize at it. I have done a couple of difficult feed problems with Brian at Lange Plumbing who is good at troubleshooting this stuff.

Note that it appears the leak detection is often pretty pricey and seldom produces a good hit.

Been my experience it is often simpler to simply replace the feed line. It depends on the geometry etc but I have been involved in four of these over the last ten years and we ended up replacing the feed line in each case.

Yeah, had a quote of $4700 to trench and replace, 750 if i trench. Trench done main replaced and waiting on inspectors visit to fill in the trench. 18" deep, so it was no real problem, just a hassle over Thanksgiving.

We recently received an advertisement from a company called Homeserve USA Repair offering plans to insure for leak detection and repair of the water service line on the homeowner's property. We checked and we are not covered for a damaged line by our homeowner's insurance. We have been researching this and have received conflicting information on the reputation of this company, and also wish to find out if anyone has information on reputable service for insurancefor this repair in Las Vegas.

Our next door neighbors just had a similar problem and used American Leak Detectors. The neighbors said the service was pricey but excellent.
