We've had Cox for the past few years since we moved here. We got talked into a bundle that includes cable, internet and phone. We don't even have a phone plugged in; I was just told it was cheaper to get the bundle.
We must have a couple hundred HD channels, plus HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc etc and high speed internet. We pay $300 a month.

We need the high speed internet because we work from home, and I still want the TV. We watch a lot of live TV including sports and news channels. I don't think I want to do anything like Hulu or Sling or anything that depends on internet for the TV.

I'm willing to dump all the premium channels except HBO.

Any suggestions? Something that would be permanently cheaper and not just an introductory rate?

Well, first of all, you should call cox and cancel the premium channels...probably a 30-40 dollar savings there, then ask if they have any alternative packages you can switch to that will save you money. They will usually give you a good deal if you agree to a 2 year contract. Good luck

Keep Cox for the internet and call Dish or DirectTv. My mom switches between the two every time her agreement expires and always ends up under $100.

I have the fastest internet Cox offers, Contour whole home DVR with two remote client boxes, no Premiums but everything else and pay $185. Once you get it down you just call once a year and either get a discount for the next year or free HBO or Showtime for that year.

I had one of those expensive packages with discounted price for two years including Internet, Cable and phone. Once the deal expired, I kept only internet and phone and paying $100/month, installed Antenna and get 55 channels including all networks and PBS. I also added Sling Orange package for $20/month to get ESPN and CNN and whole bunch of over channels.

call Cox and tell you are going to switch to a competitor; that should trigger them to offer you a better price on TV + internet. Otherwise try Dish , they have good pricing for TV services. In Vegas, there's no reliable + high speed internet provider that's better than Cox

Paying nearly $100 a month for internet is gauging. We are being ripped off . What are those other cheaper providers? I am also looking to dump cox but at first glance there isn't much competiion
