Being the OP, I am lying in my bed at 8:15 PM, with my thermostat set at 70 degrees, quietly shivering ( a little bit) but trying to "toughen up". Of course, when my new down comforter is delivered, I should be in better shape - at least at night. I am re-thinking my leather sofa purchase. I am starting to think micro-fiber now!

Thermostat off so no heat running in a high rise condo and it's 70. Bit cold at 5 am, but otherwise fine. And no ac in the summer and it was normally around 80.

^^^Leather is cold in the winter, hot in the summer. In the car, or on the couch. But you knew that!

We will occasionally turn the heat on just to knock the cold back a bit. But this only happens on the really cold nights. Otherwise, the heat stays off.

However, I do quite a bit of cooking with the oven during the winter -- dishes that I don't make in the summer because I don't want to run the oven for three hours when it's 108f outside.

68ºF day and night, but if it is really cold outside, I will bump it up a degree or two. Right now, being sick, I am freezing a lot, so I have had it up to 70ºF more than I usually do.

I can't believe some of you keep it around 60º!!!! BRRRRR...

You must bundle up pretty good keeping it at 60 at night. That's pretty cold for a house. I mentioned that I keep mine at 60 all the time because I'm hardly there. When I am there, I had to turn it up to 66-67.

Southwest gas offers a balanced payment plan to people with a good payment history. Mine has worked out to 27 dollars a month, which isn't bad considering we have a gas dryer and stove as well as the fireplace, furnace, and water heater.
Thats a good point about the gas fireplace. I shouldve clarified. Only when its super cold or have company over is when the gas fireplace comes on. Its 95% the little plug in heaters by my bed!

A good way to see how well insulated your house or condo is insulated is to turned off the heat at night (8 pm) and check how many degrees are lost the next morning (7 am). Last night I dropped 3 degrees.

Same here. I'm generally away for 4-5 days per week. Recently, it seems the place gets "cold soaked" due to me turning heat completely off for days at a time. Doesn't take long to warm it up though.
