Never seen this in person but I came across this "franchise opportunity" on Bizforsale.com. Is this the future of real estate? What would this do to the industry?

I personally do not like it, just for the fact that it just adds to the Wal-Mart monopoly.

I think they are trying to get in to the mortgage selling business. I thought they were already in it. I would never buy or rent a house through wal mart even though some of the bigger real estate agents are no better. Its just the principle of the whole thing.

I doubt it. Walmart leases the spaces in the front the their stores. I think it's an idea that can work but licensing would be tricky

Been done. Walmart and various malls and costco etc.

Hit ratio too low to make it work.

While 6% sounds like a lot as soon as you start paying a fee to someone else it breaks down.

Better a store front in an active neighborhood.

I saw a Walmart with a realty business in it a few years ago, they rented the storefront.

Walmart wants to make a bank, why not a real estate brokerage.

Walmart Realty ! Walmart Realtors, Sam's Realty and Groceries! Sound catchy yet?

Looks like a classy set up with the guy wearing a baseball cap indoors and the free TV giveaway. I know that if I was a real estate investor, that's exactly where I would want to do business.

At least I could pick up shoelaces and lettuce while making important financial decisions.

I don't think it is connected with Walmart. Walmart leases space in their stores to all types of businesses, I used to work at a Bank that was located at the front of a Walmart. Some have banks, Subway or other fast food shops, hair salons, photo shops, etc. When I worked at the Bank, people were always coming in asking various questions about Walmart...and were surprised when we directed them to Walmart Customer Service.

The funny thing is the Walmart employees probably make more money than the people selling the homes. lol

I remember when you could get securities advice in a Sears. If others want to do that, then more power to them. I'm, not one of those.

In general, you get what you pay for. I'll pass on the the Walmart Real estate broker experience
