Strip casinos vs. downtown, bigger vs.smaller...here's something I observed when I was there in December...

I am a non smoker so I always notice smoke in public places (where I live it is not allowed so it stands out to me) but I have never REALLY noticed (as in it bothered me a lot) until I was walking around the Wynn! I didn't even venture into the middle of the casino floor, I walked around the perimeter! It was the first time I think I have been in a Vegas casino and thought "Wow, the smoke is REALLY bad in here."

I have no idea why, either. It was late morning on a Friday, not super crowded. But whatever the reason, I was happy to leave so I could breathe. I have been in a majority of the casinos on the strip and downtown and have never noticed it before on that level.

Weird.

That does seem strange as you'd think Wynns would have the best ventilation system...But then again they have a HUGE amount of Asian gamblers who smoke a lot and all are playing table games for hours at a time. I find with the open doors on the casinos on Fremont Street that the smokes escapes out of them pretty good even though they are older hotels with lower ceilings than the big Strip casinos. If I play slots I usually try to sit close to those open doorways. Imperial Palace can be really smoky when its crowded as is Boulder Station for some reason. I was using my inhaler double-time last week at Boulder Station and it was a week night but I was just getting over a cold/flu so it affected me more than usual I think. Sams Town is pretty good too as their open doorways from the casino area open out into the large parklike area where the laser light show is.

Default Second-hand smoke is MUCH MORE than an "annoyance" or "irritant"

Victims of second-hand smoke are the ones who need support, love, attention and understanding; the smokers have gotten years of attention, understanding, free smoking-cessation clinics. Smokers' loved ones, the medical establishment, clergy/healers, therapists, etc have listened to smokers' B.S. for years. Victims of second-hand smoke have paid an unfathomable price in every aspect of their lives because of being forced to breath second-hand smoke. I am referring to ALL victims, every age, race, background, not just those who are known to be at high-risk.

I am an ex-smoker, off of cigarettes for almost 25 years. I stopped smoking because I have self-respect, and I also respect other people's right to enjoy good health, unaffected by other people's unhealthy choices. I also grew up around the second-hand smoke of family members. I am also a person who does not, nor, has ever, interfered with what other people find pleasurable, nor, do I have any religious, political or moral/ethical/philosophical opposition to people smoking/doing whatever they like, as long as it is done voluntarily and it does not cause other people to pay consequences for their choices.
Cigarette smoking holds non-smokers hostage and makes them victims of smokers' choices every time that smokers light up. Smoke of any kind is insidious and, like sound, will always travel the path of least resistance. The consequences that I have paid because smokers DO NOT CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO TO OTHER PEOPLE are immeasurable. I have been plagued by asthma, respiratory infections, and serious allergies for years, and the trigger is always, "COINCIDENTALLY", second-hand smoke. There is nothing whatsoever benign about second-hand smoke and I do not need any scientists/doctors/researchers to tell me this. My conclusions are based my own observations of direct cause and effect to my exposure to second-hand smoke. Smokers need to be considered criminals, and they need to pay severe penalties for the damage they do to others; smokers do not need "tolerance".

I firmly believe there is an element of control here. When I started smoking an eCig, several of my non-smoking friends' knee-jerk reaction was anger! Like I'd circumvented their ability to complain. I get more dirty looks from my smoke free eCig then I did with the smelly real thing.

Perfectly reflects my image of smokers. No headaches.

Wait til' you get to Vegas in June, Mr. Eagan...you'll be in for a rude awakening with regard to smokers, especially Nevada smokers, who are a breed unto themselves...

It's kind of hard not to "hang around" smokers when they are flouting your right to breathe clean air.

I'll never forget the times I visited Starbucks in Las Vegas, both off the Strip (One in Summerlin, the other in Henderson) and I was bombarded with cigarette smoke on the patios of both. Glancing at the floor, you saw cig butts thrown all over and even into the planters where they had just potted new flowers.

Truly hideous! and, such Civic Pride, let me tell you!

That's because the very sight of an object that looks like a cigarette is enough to turn people's stomachs.
