if your thinking about moving to vegas because you like to visit the casinos regularly and your not a smoker, then dont move here.i moved here 3 years ago because i like to play poker, bet on sports and horses.all fine.i didnt take into account the second hand smoke.and i can tell you its pure hell.they claim to have non smoking poker rooms, which they do.but your allowed to smoke near the rooms so you get all the second hand smoke you can handle.race and sports book second hand smoke is terrible.i feel sick almost daily after i play because of the second hand smoke.if you care about your health then stay out of the casinos and you will be okay.i dont believe enough is said about how bad second hand smoke is in the casinos.if you google in las vegas casinos and second hand smoke you will see the sad results.and by the way.i will be moving to california in a few weeks where i can gamble on everything but sports and i wont have to feel sick everyday of my life because of second hand smoke.i really feel sorry for the people who have to make a living working in these places 8 hours a day.it must take many years off their lives.its really criminal that smoking is allowed to continue in these places.that tv commercial is right.second hand smoke is a first rate killer.

It's unreliable.

If I'm going to kill someone, I prefer proven results.

I wish all indoor venues were non-smoking! Especially in older casinos like Palace Station, it's absolutely unbreathable.

The reality is that the OP was correct about the second hand smoke. I was at South Point saturaday night, and while most the casino wasn't too bad, the area around the sports book was loaded with 2nd hand smoke. I was coughing when I left the place and when I got home was still coughing. Heck, even the next day i would cough once in awhile. Must be all the sport fans are big time smokers.

Having a smoking section in any building is like having a "peeing" section in a pool...

In Nevada, though, your smoking section dominates your non-smoking section, usually 3-to-1. Restaurants in the state are supposed to be smoke-free now but what good is that if its in a casino?

I always know when I go to Vegas that I'm going to need to bring the Loratadine and nasal decongestant with me. The first night upon arrival is alright. If I don't, waking up the next morning is a steady drip, drip, drip from the nose and watery eyes...followed by a cough, then a burning sensation way up in the nostrils and then ultimately a bloody nose. I just know that when I go to Vegas, I will need allergy meds.

I don't know how the dealers and cocktail waitresses do it, to be honest?

I've heard an unsubstantiated claim that lung cancer is epidemic in Nevada. The strip casinos aren't too bad because they are open and airy, but some of those casinos downtown....whew!!!!!...let me tell you!
