Im finishing high school pretty soon and deciding to move to the fabulous Las Vegas. I will most likely roommate with someone since ill be (Hi my name borat, new to town), and wont have much money. I would like to work in the casino/resort (obviously) places. So i wanted to ask what would be an entry level casino job that would require no experience and would let me get my feet wet? I will be looking to become a dealer , but gotta wit till 21. So what would be the job i could possibly get without any experience? Thanks for answers (if any).
And are there any other jobs that would pay around 12$ and up that require no experience ?

From what I can tell about the Strip Casinos, the ones that will get the jobs first are the "hot" young female Bartenders, dealers, etc.. You might fair better at a local Casino first. I'm not sure your going to get $12 to start with no experience, but most places I see pay about $8 an hour. Do your research first before comming here, I know the lights and exitement draws a lot of people but you have to use your common sense.

Im certainly not expecting to land a strip casino job right away. And if i can get hired in a casino thats off the strip, im still going to be happy with that. And since I have a few months until im finished with high school, i have plenty of time to research. But it would be great to hear some information from the people who started out in vegas.

I am a transplant and moved to Vegas from NorCal. I planned it for a year and a half, but things were much different 5 years ago. Job competition is very fierce, so make sure you "stand out" compared to your competition.

I started working at the Treasure Island right out of Highschool. I worked in the Arcade (this no longer exists). You just have to research what jobs are available and be willing to take on an odd ball job to get your foot in the door. Many casinos like to promote from within so just having a foot in the door will better help you if you plan to continue in the casino industry.

I'd like to make a suggestion here...and I mean no disrespect...but do you currently have a job while in HS? If so, my suggestion would be to save up as much money as possible...maybe even live at home, work for a year, and save as much as you can in that year, before going out to LV. I'm not trying to crush your dream, or anything, but if you have enough cash to get you through an initial rough period...your chances will be so much better for success out there. And the good thing is...let's say things did work out there for you immediately...having the extra cash is not a bad problem (or problem at all,) right?

I always stressed to my own kids growing up...prepare for the worst. That way, if it happens, you'll be able to handle it. If all goes well right away...then its all gravy!

At your age...I bet a year seems like a real long time. But when you look back 5 years from now, you'll be amazed how fast the years went by.

Good luck.

Every once in a while jfkIII says somethin good $12 per hour jobs for entry level are pretty non existant....you're going to be pot whollopin in a small joint or ding the Mickey D's thing.....either way it's gonna be tough making a living on your own at that age and that level of experience.

I agree with everyone else. $12 an hour, hhmm... probably not. You're most likely bet would to be a busser at one of the local casinos. Even then, you may have trouble finding a job. Make sure you fill out a ton of applications, most of them, want your last ten years of experience and are a pain in the ass to fill out. Employers may not take you seriously because you are so young, and don't have much experience. A few months is not that much time, I think you should start looking for roommates and a place to live now. It took me a few months of searching to find good roommates to move in with. Are you working now? I moved here when I was 20, I waited for a year at home, ( I had moved out once before), I couldn't wait to leave; but I had money. Don't set yourself up for failure, the more money you have saved the better, you never know what could happen.

Try to be a bellperson. They make about $9 an hour but kill in tips. If not, In-N-Out pays 10 a hour and you get free meals.

My advice from someone who did go through something similar, save up about ten grand and go for it. Most places do not and will not hire from out of area. It is better to apply with a local address.

I have tons of experience in Law enforcement but none of the casinos would call me back for security jobs until my address was local.

I am currently working and saving up every single penny I can get. By the time I finish HS i should have enough money to last me about 6-8 months without a job or for the worst scenario. I wanted to stay home and work for another year, but my parents completely refuse to let me live with them if I don't pursue the career they want me to go after. They dont care at all what I want to do. But what I always wanted to do is to move to LV and work in a casino. Hopefully its possible to find a job within 6 month range in Vegas
