I wonder about the cop shows too when they hold a flashlight directly in front of themselves and go in a dark room. That makes a really nice target. As does a laser sight I'd think. Might as well have a lit cigarette in your mouth. They always pass right by the light switch. Why don't they flip it on?
Hollywood logic.

There are dozens of places down the first lakebed exit going south. For 100 yard plus rifle you'll need to drive up the road a bit but for pistols there's a gravel pit that makes a great backstop.

Ahhhh, for the good old days of shooting anywhere in the desert as long as you were away from houses, which wasn't hard, since there were no houses in those areas. Some of my favorites were the back side of Frenchman Mtn; out by the Henderson swamp; or just about where Charleston and Town Center are now, or maybe even a little east of there to Sahara Ave. Sahara was just a dirt path from maybe where Rainbow is now (Rainbow didn't exist).

And, at midnight on the Pahrump Highway, the jack rabbits would come out. It wasn't a nice thing to do, but chasing them with a Jeep across the open desert and shooting over the windshield was fun back then. Especially if you could hit a running rabbit from a running Jeep. Occasionally we'd go after a lonsome coyote too. That was before I learned to respect animals, BTW.
