My wife and I will be heading up there Feb 28th and staying for a long weekend until Sunday. How is the weather like in early March? Also, are there any major conventions going on that anyone knows of that might cause problems with hotel rooms and such?

Here's a convention calendar:

Weather in early March is usually very nice, occasionally a little cool but usually into the mid to upper 60s during the day.

As Owelles said, March is generally pretty nice. If you have already booked your room, it sort of doesn't matter what convention is in town. Let us know what you like in terms of entertainment and we'll be happy to help with suggestions. ( We're a helpful bunch here)

With 19,000 conventions, corporate meetings, and trade shows per year, there are always major conventions in Las Vegas. But with over 150,000 hotel rooms, more than any other city, it won't be a problem. Like everywhere else, March usually comes in like a lion. But other than being windy, spring is nice here unless you have allergies. There can be a little rain at times. Trees (all imported) show their blossoms off. Our spring begins about Feb. 15th. and goes through April.

The big conventions like CES and SEMA can raise room prices.... not sure if any others drive up prices.

Thanks for the link to the list of conventions..... always wondered if there was one.

Weather highs should be between 60-75.... should be a nice time to go.

If I remember correctly it can get windy during February especially March, just bring a light jacket. It can get really cold when the winds starts blowing.

March/April are the windy spring months. It's not windy most days, but when it is windy, you may feel like the flying nun.
