I would think the police would rather have a driver pull off the highway for a catnap than drive sleepy, which is quite dangerous. And sometimes it isn't the length of the drive that's an issue. When I lived in Pittsburgh I sometimes had to drive to Washington, DC, for a meeting and turn around and drive back that night. I often had to stop at a rest stop and take a nap. Just make sure you are in an actual rest stop and for heaven's sake LOCK THE CAR.

It's not a matter of physical strength to drive 10-12 hours in a stretch, it takes mental strength, a hyper-active mind, which many of us lack.

So someone with a hyper-active mind's advice could prove fatal to others.

There's a multitude of places in Baker/Barstow to park and take a nap, if the rest stops are closed.

I have never heard of anyone taking a nap between Los Angeles and Las Vegas..... Doesn't seem like that's a long drive anyway.... Heck my Mom's 80 and she drives for about 7 hours at a stretch....
