For numerous reasons I don't agree at all with this line of thinking. LV is already well know as "Sin City" and in fact for the most part relishes/promotes that, as evidence by the "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" advertising as one example. LV already has a well established reputation for readily available prostitutes as it's clearly visible everywhere you look everyday (the porn handbill slappers on the sidewalks, the truck billboards driving by with the "girls to your room" advertising, the "newspaper" boxes around town filled with free porn advertisement, the obvious street prostitutes working the casino floors), as well as a reputation for drinking, gambling, risque shows, etc. It's already pretty much as hard of a sell as it can get to a convention organizer worried about their group getting a "seedy reputation", and this wouldn't become a worse problem than it already is if prostitution was legalized.

In fact, I would argue legalized prostitution would make LV's reputation better over time if it traded skank street prostitution and pimps for regulated, safe, brothels in which the girls are required to have regular STD testing, use safe sex measures, etc. As an example, it seems obvious the Chicken Ranch is generally viewed by the public in a much more favorable light than the current LV prostitution situation.

You're thinking logically. Try thinking emotionally instead. (Can't believe I'm advocating THAT, but that's what's necessary.)

The casino CEOs are convinced that if prostitution was re-legalized in Clark County* the wives of convention goers would insist that their husbands stay home. We all know damned well that a good percentage of the "American Association of Tractor Salesmen" (or similar) will have escort service numbers on SPEED DIAL the minute they arrive. But so long as prostitution remains technically illegal, the convention organizers can play down the "sin" and play up the "value for the money" aspect of visiting Las Vegas.

That's the rationale that keeps prostitution illegal in Clark County. If the casino honchos changed their minds, it would be legal next month.

*Remember, brothels were legal in this city until the Army insisted that we shut the industry down during WWII.

Thanks for the update von949...glad to read the suspect has been arrested.

As for the legalized prostitution in Clark County, I'm personally against it due to the human trafficking aspect...hopefully an amended AB67 [exempting the legalized brothels in other counties] will be a viable solution for those coerced into the business.

You can run but you can't hide. Life of crime doesn't pay.

Peace to the the two victims, and even to the pimp, Mr Cherry.

I'm very glad they got this guy, thank you law enforcement.

Now, I'll bet he won't think being a Pants Down Clown is so fashionable!

FWIW, the illegal prostitution is primarily what involves criminal element...legalize it and it reduces that element some.

Trust me, it being legal won't affect the conventioneers...most are shocked to find out that prostitution is NOT legal in CC.

Dream on!!!

For those who will be "incarcerated" by his incarceration, the taxpayers, it's going to be long and painful, dipping into our wallets every year for the $40k-50k it costs to incarcerate this creature!

And, most likely, he'll get the death penalty, and he'll be on Death Row for at least a decade or more, and it costs more to put someone on Death Row!

Long and painful, are you ready for that Nevada taxpayers??

I was so wishing he would have ended up being one of these suicides by cops, or he killed himself upon arrest! But? My tears belong to the taxpayers!
