I was there as a single woman about a month ago. Stayed at a resort in Lake Las Vegas for half of the stay and the other half I was on the strip at the Flamingo. I walked the strip day and night all alone and felt safer than I have felt anywhere else. I would not be concerned about safety. Just be aware of your surroundings as usual.

When I am in Vegas, I walk almost every night between Monte Carlo and Bellegio and back. This is usually between the hours of 9 -11 P.M. I never see any problems and feel safe. I just mind my own business and enjoy!

In all honesty , in what other place can you walk around at 3AM, drunk as a skunk with money in your pocket and have a reasonable expectation of safety?

You can on the strip. Fremont Street as well.

Considering the sheer number of potential victims running around at any given time, Vegas is remarkably safe. Unless you are crossing the street. We get extra points for running over pedestrians.

Gotta love the pedestrians in dark clothing running in front of cars late at night.

Just got back from my trip last night and it was very fun. My body is detoxing right now from the oxygen, smoke, alcohol, and greasy food....I'm paying the price today.

Other than putting my wallet in my front pocket rather than the back, i never felt unsafe. Uncomfortable at times maybe, but never unsafe.

Some of the best laughs came from the homeless peoples signs. "Kick me in the nuts for $20" and "Why lie? I need a *****" were 2 that made me laugh. Couldnt stand the wannabe rappers trying to sell you their cd's as well as all the people handing out those cards for the sex slaves.

Grossest thing was seeing feces on the sidewalk. The wife saw it and said "Watch out, dont step in the dog crap" to which I replied "Have you seen any dogs the past couple of days?".......

Dogs are allowed on the strip until noon I believe, and many panhandlers bring their dogs because it increases revenue. It probably was dog poo, but considering how drunk people get, anything is possible.

I find the strip to be extremely safe, even at night. As tourism is the backbone behind our economy, protecting tourists and insuring their safety is a priority, and I see many, many Metro officers patrolling the strip. However, anything north of the Stratosphere would be best avoided.

As in any other major city, common sense goes a long way. Generally, if you don't go out looking for trouble, you're not going to find it. Don't look like you're vulnerable. I see people who walk down the strip with their eyes glued to their smartphones, or people walk completely drunk, and being in those kind of situations just screams for someone to grab your belongings. No city will be 100 percent safe, but you'll greatly reduce your chances of being a victim by exercising a little common sense. I feel safer walking the strip at night than being alone in my own neighboorhood.

We just spent the weekend in Las Vegas and felt safe. We walked the strip two evenings, and spent one evening at Fremont and did not have any problems. There were plenty of security and police around. The only time we felt somewhat uncomfortable is when we went off strip for dinner and walked around that area a bit, which we would rather have not. We spent one night on a strip hotel and from our room we did seem to notice police lights flashing almost hourly, seemed to time the Bellagio fountains.
