Strange video.

They start out in a negative vein trying to demonstrate that Las Vegas has an energy problem. They obviously were not aware that LV gets practically no energy from the dam. Only one who does is Boulder City. They don't seem to understand that the LV water usage is close to negligible and that LV is the most upstream city on the river.

Then they get into a bit of complete and utter weird where we are replacing the dollar with PV chips. Obviously don't know much about PV chips whose value drops each year a lot more that the rate of inflation.

Then finally we get into an interview of a renewable advocate from the city of LV and end up deciding LV is a show place.

These people need a new hobby. This one is more than they can handle.

Where does Las Vegas buy their power then? Just curious as well about the price per KWh charged out there.

NVEnergy uses Natural Gas to generate most of our electricity. Here's a plant I have visited

Mostly generated by NV Energy or other captive plants in NV. Apex, Mesquite, Ely and mostly from gas and coal with the coal being cycled out.

The new Ivanapah project is all CA. Nothing to NV Energy as far as I know.

Hey one good thing about this video. I watched it on the big main set for the first time. Much nicer on the big screen.

Thanks, Gas Turbines are interesting, we get our power here in Washington from Bonneville Dam Columbia River Hydro-Electric Plant at a very reasonable 8.16 Cents per kilowatt-hour. They sell power to the end user at cost because it's a Government agency. I was wondering what the rates were in Vegas because other posters have stated their monthly electric bills were $600 per month, and that's in a medium size single story Energy Star house.
