Uhh no. Many rental companies have older cars and some locals even older.

It was always amazing what they could dig up for a confirmed reservation on a sold out weekend. You could get a PT Cruiser or a Jaguar. Luck of the draw.

I used to work for a major rent a car chain back around 20 years ago. That is how they did it, with the exception of convertibles which could be up to 2 years old. Things could have changed, but I would not know as I have never rented a car or worked for a place like that since 1994 when I quit my job.
