Is there a large difference between Paradise north of the 215 vs. south? I'm thinking suburban vs. more urban. I suppose I could google earth it, but you are on the streets there more than I am..

Paradise is mostly north of 215 except in Silverado (south strip) and a little piece west of Pecos along the 215.

Parts of Silverado resemble Summerlin and good Henderson.

In general whey newbies talk about Henderson versus Summerlin there really is no difference. They are describing the part of Henderson that all their friends like...which will turn out to be south of 215.

I suspect I can find an equivalent tract in Henderson for any in Summerlin and vice versa.

So the real difference is likely where you need to be.

Henderson has some areas that don't exist in Summerlin...Water Street as an example. But the newbie coming in is not thinking about Water Street

Henderson is way more vibrant than Summerlin. More restaurants, more bars, more shopping, more people, more traffic, feels more like a city and it is a city. Summerlin is one glorified suburbia, boring but I love the trails and its proximity to Red Rock Canyon. I don't like Henderson because of the streets are so congested and too many people, too much traffic traversing its narrow roads. Summerlin has wider better road system and a smaller area compared to Henderson.

Thank you.. I sometimes get confused by the 2 different town names for the same area (actually more confused that neither are actually cities or towns).. It'll be easier once we're there I'm sure

I don't know where you qre getting this from.Green Valley hqs the Ranch and the District and Eastern south of 215. . Summerlin has Rampart, Tivoli, Boca Park, Red Rock Station, Charleston, and the coming shopping Center south of the Red Rock Casino.

It has as well easy access to West Trop and that huge commercial area. And then it has numerous local areas that are quite lively.

Summerlin is smaller than Henderson but much bigger and better supplied than Green Valley and connected areas.

And there is absolutely no more suburban place in the valley than Green Valley Ranch.

I'm saying it won't matter which government, or what agency, administers the various areas; or if you've crossed over a border, as in running around town, etc. In other words, when you're out driving you don't usually notice things like, "Hey, I just left Paradise Township and now I'm in Winchester." Where to live to find the best shopping, schools, etc., is another story. Although that doesn't even make that much difference in Las vegas. This is a city of conveniences. Not everything you need is going to always be within you're particular neighborhood, but so what? We all are used to driving all over the place and think nothing of it. You can't really get lost in the Valley.

We have no children although we do plan on having kids one day so of course a nice, safe area is a must. Thank you in advance!
Are you looking for something specific? Houses, apartments, shopping, schools, parks, fishing, hunting, biking, hiking? Scuzzy people? Plastic people? Upper middle class snobs? Las Vegas has it all.

Green Valley is to Summerlin as Henderson is to Las Vegas. The first two are developments within their respective cities. The second two are the cities. But don't forget there are nice parts of both the city of North Las Vegas, and the unincorporated county areas. Further confusing some people, depending on where they are from, there are community developments within the master planned communities. Places like Sun City, Peccole Ranch, Desert Shores ...these are also master planned communities, and all pretty nice. I've lost track of what's in Henderson, but it's the same there and all over the metropolitan area; aka: Las Vegas Valley.

Best to just see it and decide what floats your boat after you've been here for a while. Of course, I've never been satisfied, and in the last 49 years I've lived all over town ...and by town I mean the Las Vegas Metropolitan area which includes all of the above. It's dangerous to our finances for my wife and I to go out looking at model homes.

Hahaha wrong!! Tivoli Village, Boca Park, Rampart Commons, Fort Apache Commons, Village Square....... are not located in Summerlin. They were never part of Summerlin, not even in the area of Summerlin.

Summerlin does not even have anything close to the District in the community of Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. Summerlin has a vacant lot that is supposed to look like the District or Town Center but that is a few years away from fruition.

Comparing a suburban community like Summerlin, not even a town, nor a city to Henderson which is a city is ridiculous. Try comparing Green Valley Ranch and Summerlin both suburban communities but dont think Summetrlin is equivalent or comparable to Henderson.
