Old thread so I'm going to re-ask the question:

Considering moving to NV. In order to get my driver's license do I need to get a
  • written test?
  • vision test?
or do I just surrender my old license and they give me a new one without taking any tests?

Everything you need to know is right here. Double-check that you have all paperwork or you'll be wasting your time.

Nevada DMV New Resident Guide

There are a few instances where you may need to take the written test, which are listed in the "driving tests" section of this page. In all cases, you will take a vision test.

I'm asking hoping to get people who have done it recently to respond.

PS - I have google, too. The new resident guide isn't the answer I was looking for, but thanks anyway.

Neither of us had to take any tests. Just make sure you have all of the required documentation. If you're not sure, bring everything you have. Overdoing it is better.

We both got Real ID's and registered 3 cars, no problem. Also make sure to make an appointment and you should be in and out in less than an hour.

THAT's what I needed! Thanks Camaro5!

When I first get down there I will probably stay in one of those "short-term furnished" apartments, all utilities included, like I found on 702 housing website. So I will not have any utility bills to bring. I'm thinking that the lease agreement will count, plus I have my social and Real ID card driver's license, and passport. When I get into town I will open up a bank account and the statement should count as well, I think!
