The pizza place need to make great tasting pizzas and affordable if it wants to survive. Its competition, Radio City Pizza which used to be in Tivoli Village serve delicious pizzas and deli sandwiches.

I find it very sad that someone has been to Vegas multiple times had never heard of Fremont before. To just go to the strip is a wasted Vegas trip IMO.

Many people just go to a hotel/casino on the strip and usually the same ones why? because they are in the same rut as they are where they live. They go to the same places there and do the same here. One draw back here in LV is many folks can not figure out the transportation system and they also think the Taxis are going to rip them off. I do know folks who go the the same hotel year after year have stated they will not go any other place. I think LV really overwhelms many people and the small town thinking can't handle it.

Radio City Pizza-yuck.

I love Fremont Street area. If I go to FSE it's to people watch, to hear free good music and to go to the Beef Jerky Store. I know Hawaiians are loyal to the area.

A couple of nights ago Radio City Pizza was packed, so goodluck to them and great for them to invest in the economy in Downtown Vegas.

One thing restaurateurs need to keep in mind all the time, restaurants in Clark County are dime a dozen. So many to choose from in downtown, the Strip and suburbia. Serve consistent delicious food and decent service but sometimes even that is not enough so I wish restaurateurs all the best! Oh and I love the pizza @ Radio City Pizza, will I drive to downtown on a regular basis to have pizza, NO? We have too many pizza restaurants in suburbia and one just opened recently, Pizza Lounge at Tivoli Village.

Since our early visits to Vegas, we now stay exclusively off strip, usually downtown. As a couple in our late 40's, I love what is happening in Freemont East. I remember our first visit when my wife was very uncomfortable walking from the FSE to the El Cortez. Now that block and a half is alive and rocking. The change won't suit all, but based on the amount of money being invested downtown, there is a commitment to revitalizing it.

The DT hotels all have such great character and I hope DT never loses that. While some smaller businesses pay the price for modernization, overall it is benefical for Las Vegas and the local economy.

Listening to the folks who have lived out here longer than myself I am hearing nothing but good comments about Downtown. I have yet had a visitor who has come here and been on the strip and then go DT say negative things and they all want to go back to DT instead of the strip. The big plus is you can easily walk around the place and not get zapped by Taxi cost or sore feet walking so far to the next casino like on the strip. The cost is lower for food and drinks and of course free entertainment. Parking is great and traffic is not a big mess like on the strip. You can have great food options from cheap hot dogs to expensive steaks but the specials in the restaurants for prime rib and steaks are great. The casinos with hotels are all upgrading their places and the area is maintained well for trash and litter. I am sure the new Zip line will add more excitement to the area. You can still play the old coin slots which is fun. It has a good mix of age groups at night and that is fun to watch. I see more growth happening in the next few years which only makes it better for me being a local.

Downtown Project snapping up apartment building, other parcels - Las Vegas Sun News

Quote:
A group purchasing property all over downtown is close to finalizing a deal for the 360-unit Mayan Plaza apartment building on Alta Drive, next to the new Metro Police headquarters.
Sources say the group, including Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh, has targeted the 15.4-acre parcel at 1700 Alta Drive because it needs housing downtown for some of Zappos’ 1,300 employees who will be working there this fall.
County records show the 24-year-old property sold for $18.8 million in 2003 to Greenlawn Property LLC, a California-based company.

Joe Downtown: Skeleton for dome arrives at Container Park construction site - Las Vegas Sun News

Quote:
The skeleton of the geodesic dome that will be able to project an array of images on its interior walls with state-of-the-art digital equipment is finally going up in the Downtown Container Park at Seventh and Fremont streets.
The container park, a Downtown Project endeavor, will immediately grow downtown businesses by 20 to 30 as it will house numerous businesses in smallish premade cubes about the size of a railcar.
