Last summer I used to buy those combo strawberry/canteloupe/grapes etc plates from Alberstons and they were delicious much better than Smiths, but of course when fall came the taste started going away. That was my first time I ever craved fruit and am not a fruit connoisseur. So now I am salivating waiting for that good tasting fruit again.

So I would like to know either when does the good fruit come out and/or where is the best places to buy the best tasting fruits.

Answer the OP's actual question, instead of resorting to another "insider joke fest".

jlady, you can try Sprouts Farmers market, formerly Sunflower. Two locations in the valley. Whole Foods markets. Several locations around the valley. Farmers markets on the weekends in various parks.
And just your closest supermarket. Winco is also a newcomer to the area and has the best priced produce, not sure it is the freshest though. (they seem to have a problem with fruit going bad in many area's of the produce section, underneath the fresh fruit.
Fresh and Easy is also a good choice. And Costco. And with anything, the more you buy the fruit in season, the more flavorful and fresh it will be.

The best in season fruit you will find here is the fruit that is grown here.

Gilcrease Orchard

I don't know why, but I forgot about Gilcrease. Of course it will be fresh, since you get to pick it.
Where is Tonopah Roots Community Garden located? First I have heard of it.

Isn't there a site, or maybe it's posted in the paper, when the different fruits are ready to be picked at Gilcrease?

Winco fruit is average at best. Many times it has black spots, under ripe or overripe. Also, know which fruits are in what season and that will help a bit of you cant get to the local places. Watermelon is a summer fruit, so getting one in the supermarket in January will usually be a let down. Ive had some average and above average watermelons this winter and cant wait until this summer to get the good stuff in season!

I have always had great luck at Costco. Sometimes the fruit didnt look fresh so I didn't buy it but on average for me, they have been the best. I got some awesome strawberries at Albertsons a few months back, super fresh and sweet. I also had good luck at Target(with the grocery section) for strawberries, they carry Driscolls and they are always sweet and delish! I have never been to an orchard here so I can't comment on that. I think it also depends on the store and it's management. I have been to good grocery stores and bad, and even my good stores have off days when I go.

People who care about pesticides should note that even though Gilcrease has claimed to be "organic" in the past, they have recently admitted to the continued use of Round-Up pesticide to control Bermuda grass

I usually hit that Asian market in the same lot as Big Lots on the corner of Decatur and Spring Mt.
Great buys on cherries, Leeches and papaya when in season.
Overall, haven't been too thrilled in general with "fruit season" since moving to Vegas, (lived the last 5 years in Florida, Brazil, Thailand/Philippines)...village markets and street vendors in those places have the best stuff on earth, picked yesterday.
