I don't care for tress, grass, or cold weather. I have allergies and asthma, when you suffer year round in STL it makes LV sound a little better. I'd give something else a try in a minute because I know there is better out their for me. I think I would appreciate Nevada coming from Missouri.

Still, the lack of community feel here is hard to ignore. It is one of the few aspects of that this city is lacking. We just don't have anything to rally around, like the southern states that have SEC football, or the Northeast and Midwest states with the professional sports. Not that sports is everything, but their is a certain pride and common ground that people have. We have UNLV basketball, I guess. But, that is not a big deal. We have UFC and Boxing, so that is something. People trash Floyd Mayweather all the time, but he is good for the city. Also, UNLV is not a great university. I don't know, I am rambling here.

Regardless, I would still stay that Nevada is one of the best places to live if you can find a decent job, because like you said, the state is easy on the pocketbook and the quality of life is very good. Also we have the best city in the world only 4 hours away, and that is a great perk.

Lets see Lake Mead is predicted to be at 1075 feet by May 31st of this year. When the lake gets to 1050 feet the dam will no longer be able to produce electricity...its not just the lack of drinking water that we should be concerned about.

Not how it works. The power available goes dowsn as the head drops. Does not get to zero to something like 950 feet.


Not a great problem to NV which only gets a quarter of that power.

Many that move here don't realize, until they've lived here awhile, that lying beneath the neon/glitter of Las Vegas lies a very conservative populace, akin to San Diego. Even the tourists that come here are conservative and they expect conservatism when they arrive here, which we're more than happy to comply with!

One needs to know, before moving here, that that Clark County and the state are virtually ruled by the oligarchs in this state, akin to Mexico! No complaints from the Mexican's as they're used to it! Yes, we have our Carlos Slim's here as well! Les than a half-dozen of them!

The city and state do everything in their power to keep us firmly entrenched in the 20th Century, and if you seek out a state/city with more courage to embrace the 21st Century, then move there, as your patience will run out very quickly in this state/city, waiting, waiting, waiting!

For those that love living a 20th century conservative, car-centric lifestyle, this city/state is for you!

I see that Phoenix voters are up for a vote this Fall on a $30 billion, long-term transportation plan, which would raise the sales tax from .4 to .7 to fund it all, which would include expanding their light rail system, to possibly Scottsdale and Glendale/Sun City. The voters approved the .4 sales tax to fund the existing rail line from north Phoenix (Camelback) to Tempe and an extension to Mesa. And look how much more spread out Phoenix is than Las Vegas!!!

Pooh-pooh to those here who say we don't have the density pockets to build even one line here! How about downtown Summerlin to downtown Las Vegas?

Even Tucson, where I hope to be living yet this year, has a light rail line, a city much, much smaller than Las Vegas!

What I'll miss the most here is the scenery and the climate! Moving away from a city with barely 4 inches of rain a year to a city with close to 11 inches of rain a year, that's going to take an adjustment, more humidity!

But, find myself cooling off on those humid summer days down in Nogales, at 3900 feet, doing some cantina hopping! And there's always Bisbee to the SE at 5200 feet!
