I still think it has the potential to be a perfect gate-way drug.
Although I know plenty of pot heads that never went on to meth or crack, somebody out there is going to.
The whole 'medical mj' thing in Cali is a fraud.
I know a bunch of people that have those cards. Not ONE of them needs it.

The gay marriage thing shoulda happened here years ago. Nevada should have been the first state to make it legal.

My point of the subject is, that Las Vegas should push to have pot legalized or, say decriminalized
it would help out tourist business dramatically, The liquor flows here, hell you can pick up booze at the Airport
you can buy booze and gamble at CVS, you can smoke almost everywhere.

As far as gay marriage, again, the gay community on weddings and parties alone could float us out of debt
How many homeless gay people do you know? - that market is a untapped stream of wealth!

I thought pot was already decriminalized here? I thought that if you get caught with a small amount for personal use not packaged for resale and own up to it, all you get is a $250 ticket.
As far as being a gateway drug, I think that may be currently true only because its illegal so you are more likely to be around dealers/users of other drugs to get your pot. If legally sold in a cafe you wouldn't be as exposed to harder stuff/harder people. I dunno, just a theory. No, i'm not a smoker, haven't since I was a teen many moons ago, but would try if it was legalized for recreational use.

Good point just think how the comps would change at the casinos 300 points for a joint on senior day I am sure as soon as the Government figures out how much tax money it can make this will be a reality. Las Vegas and Nevada is all ready branded as Hell and sinners paradise so why not go all of the way and make some money doing it. The gay marriage issue is moot because in the next 5 years it will be common in most states but there is $$$ to be made there also. The governments spend BILLIONS of $$ trying to stop pot smokers and if legalized that would lower cost of government spending

The government already knows how much it can make.

But an unholy alliance between law enforcement groups, private prisons, and the "moral majority" types are going to keep it illegal for a very long time. Gay marriage will happen nationally before legal weed.

And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Las Vegas to become sensible. The LDS church holds tremendous sway in this city. They don't want gay marriage, legal weed, or much of anything else. If I'm not mistaken, they draw the line somewhere between "iced tea" and "hot tea."

LOL...I've run into some U.S. people who have called Canada a socialist country..Where they get that I don't know...We have recognized gay marriages, medicinal marijuana, people smoke pot out in the open everywhere...in BC anyway, allow online poker, free medical clinics and needle exchanges, etc. so I would say we have freedom to a higher extent than Nevada. What we do get is big fines for is littering on streets or freeways or for smoking cigarettes at beaches or public parks in Vancouver.

I think if places did do special packages for gay marriage ceremonies it would certainly increase tourism. Smoking pot is just commonplace in most other areas so I can't see that being much of an attraction.

Being not religious, it wouldn't bother me on religious grounds to have legalized gay marriage as it doen't bother me to have brothels. (In fact, anything that promotes monogamy is a positive for society.)

It frightens me, however, when the leftists bleep that it is hateful to express any concern about "unintended consequences" with gay marriage. (Can I force a church to recognize my same sex partner or to give a child for adoption to a gay couple, for example?)

It was not too long ago that Howard Stern was banned from Canada radio waves. Did those expletives really threaten the security of Canadians?

It is easy to protect free speech when one agrees with that speech.

I prefer democratically achieved freedoms rather than governmentally mandated "political correctness and nanny statism." Mike Bloomberg, ubermommy and Mayor of New York, would be horrified by many of the freedoms of Las Vegas.
