Talking about the weather. I dont think I remember a Holoween in the 70s-80s! This is one of the nicest October's ive ever experienced. One thing about LV winters is what I call "Clean and Crisp" weather. Its sunny and clear and a little nippy and crisp. Its definatly nicer than most places in the US for wintertime... not much rain either.

Normally in Wyoming, our first snow of the season came on holloween. Every year I lived there, October 31 was our first snow of the season. Now we got some in the summer at times, but the first seasonal snow came on 10/31.

that is because Nebraska and Kansas suck, therefore it is windy in Wyoming and Colorado. I call it the "crappy area vaccuum effect". I'm lobbying to have it made into an offical weather term.

Ah yes, Omaha. I spent 2 years of my childhood at Awful Offutt AFB. It actually wasn't that bad, just flat.

Okay, the trip down memory lane has been fun, but now to help answer to OP question. He should have no trouble in a restaurant as soon as you establish a local address. Alot of people will not even talk to you if you are not local. A friend of mine works at the Venetian and he said it is because so many apply and such a small percentage actually show up, they are not going to waste their time 'till you prove you are serious.

My next point is, do not rule out the cold or the snow. I was visiting a friend here the last time it snowed. While rare, it does happen. Here are some cool pictures I found that he gave me.

And this one is my favorite. It makes me giggle.

i found some stuff to like about omaha (STEAKS! the dubliner, old town, wandering around the ConAgra fountains), but i hated the summers and had this odd feeling that i would die in a cornfield . oh yeah...we had bad crime there (my roommate's car was stolen from our driveway w/ us all home at like 8pm and someone got shot in the alley next to my house..heard the gunfire, thot someone had the TV too loud)
