I am concerned about the palm tree near my pool. I just received an estimate to remove from $500-$700. Does this seem accurate... Do the roots go out? When the pool was built 3 1/2 yrs ago, the palm was about 8' high, now its about 18'

Yes, it is a concern. I asked my landscaper about putting palm trees near our pool. I forget how far he said they should be away, but I know he would not have recommended doing what you did.

That's a concern but I'm not an expert. I would get a few more quotes.

Who built your pool and what was the total cost if you don't mind?

Palm trees are generally not invasive. Small and shallow root ball. Lots of roots but small things that don't generally cause damage. They come out easily. I would get a couple more quotes. $250?

You sure you want to take it out? looks ok there and I don't see much likelihood of damage.

we just had one cut down but it was only about 12 ft.

the landscaper suggested to cut it down to about a 1 to 2 foot stump and use it as a planter. we had him hollow out the middle and put a color bowl in it. he also suggested to possibly plant some sort of hanging vine that would eventually drop down to cover the stump.
