Yes, PT....and I have never portrayed myself as otherwise. In fact, unlike yourself, I proudly display my location as Beautiful Upstate NY for all members to see. My advice remains unchanged, no matter where I'm from.

BTW...Podunk is way west of where I live, which is much closer to the NY/Mass/CT borders.

Many people post in the LV forum from many different areas....heck, half of them even become residents! LV is truly a city that belongs to EVERYone, especially tourists from other areas!

Okay... QUESTION???? How are you supposed to have a job lined up before you get there, when your saying employers don't like to hire people without a LV address and phone number??

I'm going to be there for a week before I move out. During that week I plan to put in plenty of applications and find a place to live. Either way it goes I'm giving my job 2 weeks notice when I return and coming on out to Vegas the first week in July. I'm really looking forward to the move.

I just made the move here from DC. I used my home's address even though it was under construction and my Virginia cell phone number. I did as you plan on doing and was able to get calls from several employers including my current employer while driving through DC on Constitution Avenue.

Be persistent!!! Apply and any and every job you feel would be a good match, and you'll find it.

why would PT display his location as beautiful upstate NY?

j/k jfk....i agree that more ppl should list where they are from when they are posting....it lends credibility when discussing a particular area...of course, people can/do make stuff up

I am persistent and frankly i believe that there are very few things that if I can't do now will note take long to learn. I am glad to hear that there are those that believe to be the glass have empty but in my defense I have been in the AR-TN state line area for quite some time but I have not succumb to their stupidity that is why I do research now and prepare for the move and give that two weeks notice and say goodbye to the Bible belt for good. I am not one of those people that will let the world take me and throw me around. BUT Thanks for the warning!!! I know, I know never say never...But once a fighter always a fighter watch out LV here I come. Can't wait to see the locals where the tourist don't go!

My advice...in that one week you'll be out there...pound the pavement hard! Give yourself 10+ hours a day to find something during that week, which should be unlike any other trip you've made there for fun. Take any job....even if it isn't your dream job. I assume you've planned enough so that money will not be a problem for a few months. Once you're out there permanently...and working in some capacity...you can then search and be choosier, starting as soon as you permanently get there. In the meantime live smartly on the money you brought out with you to get you by that period. If you're lucky to get a great job right off...having that extra money is a "good problem".

The point here...do not make the move without some (any) employment lined up first. Others can attest (and have attested) to moving there and finding themselves unemployed for way longer than they imagined. Please heed their warnings.

Yes POUNDING the H*LL out of the pavement is definitely planned. I will be there the 2nd week in June prior to coming I plan to send my resume to every job I'm even remotely interested in. Then while I'm there I'm going to follow up with every single one of those places PLUS find more. In addition I plan to find somewhere to live. In a perfect world everything will go smoothly and I'll land a job during my week of hunting. If that happens I will know what salary I'm working with plus which side of town would be most cost effective for me to live in. Although on all the visits I've been on (way over a dozen) we always leave the strip and go site seeing. Since I've been considering the move I've become partial to the southwest side of town. So I'm probably going to start my condo/townhome search there.
Currently my biggest concern is driving (directions) around town to and from interviews (hopefully) and condos. Directions and I aren't the best of friends. When people are like north on ... make a left south of ... I'm like uughhh NO!! Just tell me right at the dairy queen, left at the big grey building and if you pass the burger king on sahara you've gone too far!! ha ha ha I'm definitely looking to rent a car with a navigation system.
