Free wine? What? Who cares about the food lol

Exactly...we took Irishspy and Pat out for dinner in May there and had a good time. As usual, I put a good dent in the white wine bottle. There is a reason Battista's is always packed...and that's it! We'll have to do it again next time you are in town ElleTea!

Battista once gave me a recording of his singing. He was always nice to me, but my uncle said he was a real bastard to his family. The food might be mediocre, but there's a lot of history packed into that place. It's worth a visit.

Besides Binionrat's excellent suggestions, I'd add the Bellagio fountains.

Do these to chefs ever step into these outposts, especially after they're in operation? Is the food quality up to what it is in the original locations?

These restaurants are a little less expensive than their counterparts elsewhere in the country -- so visiting Las Vegas is one of the best way to sample the food from America's (and the world's) top chefs.

"Cheap food" brings in the absolute worst kind of visitor -- they care about price and not quality. No reasonable person can look at a $4.99 all you can eat buffet and think there's anything good about it.

I can only attest that Thomas Keller of Bouchon does indeed show up at his place. I think Wolfgang Puck tries, but he's spread himself pretty thin with his many restaurants and community activities. I don't know how often Emeril shows at his joint, but he is frequently a breakfast guest in a local restaurant that I know of.

Heh. Gotta give that one a LOL.

Maybe my opinion's validated then ... the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs at Grand Lux is my favorite breakfast anywhere. It's not the mushy, salty stuff you find in a can. The 'Hash' is freshly made hash browns; the Corned Beef part is real chunks of corned beef (think like pulled pork) sauteed with potatoes/onions/peppers/etc. You can have the eggs prepared however you like & you'll get your choice or toast (or a bagel). It's a lot of food for about $15 & I normally have leftovers (which actually taste good as leftovers).

Highly recommended. Also, if you get to Grand Lux for dinner try the Shaking Beef (phenomenal marinade) or Crispy Caramel Chicken. Both have been consistently excellent.

Not too expensive BeeCee at Battista's but if you think $24.95 is a lot in Vegas I'm not sure where you can find much cheaper on the strip for a good Italian meal....It is $21.95 for regular Italian dishes and I had the Category 2 dish ($24.95) "Seafood Fettucini" which was really good and full of seafood. All dinners include Minestrone Soup or Italian Salad, Garlic Bread, Pasta Side & Homemade Cappuccino, and free house
wine.
