Does it matter whether you have a GED, regular diploma or a college degree? People say education isnt important here. Im just curious about the different job types/levels there are in Vegas and how much your education level can make a difference. I finished HS not too long ago

Depending on what type of jobs you are referring to.
handyman, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, pool cleaners...etc -- no education needed, just some training (and more to get certificates if you want).
Any professional jobs will need some diplomas or degrees.

Regardless of the job you seek, you will be competing with other applicants for that job. In any market, but even more so in Las Vegas, the number of job applicants without college degrees or more education is much, much lower. In other words, the more education you have, the less competition you will likely have for finding a job. Of course, you will always face competition for landing any decent job, you just make the pool a lot more shallow if you have a degree. Las Vegas has a relatively low amount of people with college and advanced degrees for the size of the City. Those who have the degrees are in greater demand than those without.

I manage a retail operation. Without a high school diploma, you wouldn't even be considered for the most menial position. If I have a candidate with a hs diploma vs. college..... college gets it every time...

If you just finished school recently and have no clue consider the Air Force. Something to consider going forward is you ant to work somewhere where you can build up money for the later years. If by chance you went the AF route you can retire in 20 years with guaranteed benefits. The only real major concern is what job you choose. Not all jobs in the military are combat rifle ground pounding jobs.

Your young sowhy not go see the world. Just have aplan. There are many aF people around town who you can talk to and get the real deal beyond what a recruiter may tell you..The days of just getting a job without some sort of paper are over.
