We bought a house last year in South Shores (89128), and plan on moving into it next year sometime.

Now I have read on this forum the pros and cons of a swamp cooler - here is an image of the AC in our house. can someone tell me if this is a swamp cooler?

No. I'm not an expert, but it does look like an AC unit to me.

I can't see the pic on my phone...if it just has electrical running to it its A/C if it has a hose also its swamp cooler. Swamp coolers are supposed to be on the roof or wall for direct air into the house. Since this is on a pad away from the house its most likely A/C.

That is an a/c condensor, the other half of the system, evaporator coil and furnace will be in the attic or garage.

I agree...

It is not a swamp cooler. It is probably a A/C unit. Maybe a Heat pump? It could be?

Thanks for the replies.

Here in Australia our HVAC units look a bit different.

Now I at least know we will be up for big $$$ for cooling during the hot part of the year

We have such low humidity, you may want to use a swamp cooler. I use mine except on the most hottest days of the year - like last week. We are back to using our swamp cooler again, though. HOA's don't usually allow them to be in public view.
