I've been trying for some time now to get myself a nightlife job as a bottle server. Everyone tells me it's all about "who you know" and the thing is, I don't know anyone. I'm very aggressive in my search and have not taken "no" for an answer. I have the look, so what else can I be doing?

I'm on all the job sites every day. Is there something else that can put me ahead of the pack? Thanks for any advice.

Have you tried walking into the clubs/bars early, while they're still setting up, and talking to the managers, handing out resumes, etc.? It isn't all about the internet.

You've been tying to get a "nightlife" gig for the las couple years. Maybe you should take no as a no and move on?

What does "the look" look like? Anything like this?

Are you a man or a woman? For a man you need to kiss lots of butt; for a woman you need to make friends with people who work where you want to or "date" a manager at the place.

What, just give up? The some of the millionares of the world struggled for DECADES. Your advice is that of a person who is failing at life. I don't believe in the words no, fail, can't, quit, give up. HELL no.

OP- just follow the advice of positive peeps on here. I once wrote a manager a letter to get a job years ago. It worked. Be creative, be persistent. But make sure you are certain you do have "the look" as I get what you mean.

I work in sales, if that helps. Lots of money in those areas if you are outgoing and confident. Maybe try that too. I know you're after cash, that's why I suggested it.

[mod cut-- rude, personal]

#1) it's a bartender/promoter/ nightlife gig we're not talking about a million dollar deal here. Promo gigs are a dime a dozen and if it has taken this long there's something wrong with the OP and it's not connections.

#2) I find it amusing that you could call anyone a failure at life. Aren't you the one constantly whining about having no friends and how everyone else is a flake/loser/degenerate but you accept ZERO responsibility for your situation?

#3) Never quit? Aren't you leaving Vegas because you cant hack it here? Sounds like a quitter to me.

Where did the OP say 'years'? OP just said "some time now".

It's NOT a 'bartender or a promoter gig. It's a bottler server gig. True, not a million dollar gig, but definitely a lucrative gig. Assuming the OP is a female {most bottle servers/cocktail servers are} with that 'look', she could easily make 100k a year. Easily.

However OP....
You should know that the job your looking for is a tough nut to crack.
Sad to say... but it's true that 'special favors' get some women far in this industry. I know this because for the last 2 years I worked in a major Vegas nightclub. I heard about some pretty raunchy stuff going on with those bottle servers.
Also..
You might be out of luck for this season because a whole bunch of those jobs are filled right before summer starts. Some places don't start those girls out easy either. Yup...you'll be at the pools first.
BRUTAL.
Check out the forums at Jack Colton for more Vegas nightclub 'insider' stuff.
Good luck..and remember..
This is 'Sin City', expect to see and DO a little sinning.

From her post in February 2011 about what to expect at Cosmo pool and the post a month or two later about modeling. If you haven't broken in to the biz in 2+ years you're probably not going to.

A simple parallel to make a point. To echo another poster, bottle servers DO make a very lucrative income, well into six figures at hotspots such as XS, TRyst, etc. Before I became successful in sales, I worked in the casinos and clubs.

I am good at my work as I don 't back down. If I escape Vegas, it will only be for greener pastures.

I stand firm on my opinion of the majority of people in this town. [mod cut-- off topic]

Cheers!
