USAA
Online-only bank, but you can deposit at almost any UPS Store (dozens in the valley)
True no-fee checking with no minimum balance
Can withdraw from ANY ATM and whatever fees the other bank charges, they refund at the end of the month!

USAA requires ties to the military, either active duty, retired or dependent there of, I believe.

I think if I were searching for a bank today I would go with online only, like ING (now Capital One) or something.

Only if you want their insurance or high tier credit cards (think rewards cards). Otherwise anyone can open an account.

I use ALLY online. All types of advantages
One cool item is you can scan a check using your phone or a scanner to deposit the check..
If you need cash, use any ATM and they reimburse you at end od month for any fees.

I had ING, but since they were bought out by Capital One I dropped them..

Thanks all for the recommendations. I'm leaning towards the online only banking.

Navy is excellent, if you can get in. I've been a member for about 4 years.
