I've been a cabbie for a bit over a year.
Most don't last 30 days FWIW...they are either fired for safety infractions or quit because of the hours and frustrations.
Oh, yeah...there's a camera in your face all day, every day! Everything you say and do is recorded throughout your whole shift. If there are no "incidents" then the next shift overwrites your shift.
If the camera is set off for any reason 20 before and 20 after the incident is saved and automatically downloaded to the Safety Officer's computer for review. If at any time you are suspected or accused of doing something wrong the supervisors can hook up a laptop and download your whole shift.
I actually really like the job about 75% of the time.
The pay can range from great to absolutely abysmal...only PART of the fluctuation is on you...there's a huge fluctuation between days and weeks and months. Count on making less than min wage Sept through January!.....INCLUDING tips! Unless you are awesome at diverting (Illegal) passengers to the strip clubs! ...Most weeks during that period at least.
I don't know much about the limo gig except the drivers are annoying and entitled.
I wouldn't ever want to be one HERE.
Either gig though will NOT qualify as a hobby gig! They will work you 60+ hours per week....the company wants it's money!
Take in a counterfeit bill....take money out of your tips/wallet/bank...they want their money!
Someone runs out without paying....you get ONE cover of up to $30 per year...after that it comes out of your pocket!
Don't get tipped.....too bad, you get taxed as if you got a 10% tip anyway!
