Good morning,

My family is moving to Las Vegas, we will be staying there for awhile and plan on buying a nice home this year. I will be moving with my husband and our new baby and our little poodle. Any recommendation and comments regarding a good area to buy a house in Vegas will be appreciated.

There are several, I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses. You really need to get out and visit the communities you consider purchasing in, and get a feel for the different areas. One main issue you may have is wanting to buy a nice home this year. Unless you're willing to buy new and have the house built, there is not much inventory on the market and you may be surprised to get outbid on several properties before obtaining one. This is of course not a hard rule, but is more the norm than the exception right now. I wish you the best of luck!

Las Vegas is the classical car centric city. If you look at a map there is a outer highway callled the 215. Stay near it or outside of it and you will be fine.

First question is who is working where? While it is quite possible to commute all the way across town that is pretty dull. So if you know where work will be it makes picking a community much easier.

Nfapps is correct that the market is competitive. Particularly at the lower end. Not too bad above or close to $200K...But difficult below $150K.
