Just keep in mind some of those post WWII homes are smaller and usually have limited bedrooms/bathrooms but they are still nice looking homes.

We are looking for a 3 bed 2 bath.
Say 1200 to 1700 Sq ft.
Just two of us and 4 SMALL dogs toataling about 40 lbs.
The pool is a requirment.

I have noted that some fo the older homes have SMALL bedroom be todays standard.
It is not beyond our ablities to make a 4/2 into a 3/2 with a awesome master suite
Move or open up a wall. We finished our home here ourselves.

Possiblities seem to abound for under 175K or so .
I feel the older homes of block design would be a perfered structure for the enviroment.
Is this correct?

There are homes in the Beverly Green area which were built around the 60s, bigger in size and can have up to 3 bedrooms but more than likely with only 1 bathroom. I noticed driving around the area of Beverly Green and even closer to Fremont East there are some homes with a bit of front yard. That is if you can find one that does not have an offer on it. As far as construction material, stucco protects the wood from drying up so I guess it is preferrable for our climate. Exposed wood will dry up and become brittle over time. Im sure they now apply sealants on the wood on the new homes construction if not, it still has the stucco to protect it with the current build of homes. Don't know about those old structures.

I live in 89121, but I absolutely insist upon having a garage, and so many of the garages in East Central have been converted to living spaces, and those houses have no appeal to me! But a number of the houses never had garages, just carports, and, equally, there's no appeal there either.

Being so fearful of a house fire, many of the houses in East Central are built out of cinder block, so that's one big plus, only the wooden roof you need worry about catching fire!

Must have felt like an oven inside during the Summer. Good thing for AC and fan.
