We have been living in North Las Vegas since 2009 after I left the Navy. Our gated community has been crime free since we have been living here. Well, a few days ago my kids left their scooters outside the house after playing and the next day the scooters are gone. I had my kids searching the neighborhood to no avail. My kids finally had a wake-up call and also learned a valuable lesson.

How did this happen in the SAFETY of a Gated Community.
Gated Community is false sense of security.....

I believe that also. Gated=false sense of security.

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but I think I found the problem.

Moral: Put your toys away. I don't care where you live; if you leave bikes, scooters, etc., outside over night they will disappear, even in a small town where you know everyone. We live in a small but nice gated community, and if I want something to disappear I put it on the curb in the evening.

Since GPS tracking devices are now affordable, I wonder why more people use them to trap or track criminals.

I was not naive to think that crime does not happen in gated communities, just the opposite. I had been harping on my kids to always be vigilante and aware of your surroundings at all times. It just seemed to go in one ear and out the other. Hopefully, they will heed my warnings and not be complacent.

Glad everyone is safe and thanks for the heads-up, as it's always something to think about and not become complacent.

When will people learn that security is merely a illusion.
