Are there any pawn shops that specialize or have a good selection of digital cameras? I am looking for a Canon Rebel t1i, t2i, or t3i slr.

I am figuring that a pawn shop would be safer than craigslist...

The super pawn on Boulder does not have any of those. I was just there looking for lenses for my t4i.

Try calling around. Stuff comes and goes at pawn shops, and you can never be sure of the selection.

The pawn shops I've been in seem to specialize in flat screen TVs, sunglasses, handbags, musical instruments and broken down, outdated DJ equipment.

I've been a photographer for 40 years, and wouldn't touch a pawn shop camera with a ten foot pole.

There are some forums on which you can (fairly) reliably buy used gear, but for hassle free used camera purchasing, try KEH Camera. They have been around a long time, and their used gear is usually in much better shape than described. I've sold gear to them in the past and was satisfied with the transactions.

Given how expensive digital SLR repairs can be, I'd be looking into something that was manufacturer refurbished with a manufacturer warranty, and a longer third-party warranty.

My first DSLR was a Nikon D70, which had one major repair covered under warranty, and another one that cost me nearly as much as the camera was worth at the time. After that experience I've always purchased insurance (extended warranty) for DSLRs.

Yep, B&H Photo Video is another good source for new and used equipment. Over the years, they have taken thousands and thousands of my dollars.

Both KEH Camera, and B&H Photo Video have good return policies. Buy with confidence.

I would not buy electronics used. You can probably get a 10-20% discount if you wait till Black Friday.

Be careful, B&H sells a lot of gray market cameras. They have to personally warranty those.
