The problem is that when there is no meter and dense traffic, people start pulling stunts to get into traffic out of turn. It's difficult to merge when people behind you are cutting into a break in traffic that should be entitled to you. With the meter on, they have to wait just long enough to allow everyone to get into traffic orderly, instead of a free for all. If you hate the one minute wait at the on ramp, imagine how much you'd hate the wait of an accident on the same onramp.

Personally, I'd take the opinion of professors over that of police officers on matters relating to engineering of roadways.

Wow! Lots of heated posts about Las Vegas traffic! Odd...I recognize quite a few of your names as posting elsewhere that traffic in LV really isn't bad???

Vegas traffic is not that bad COMPARED TO other Metro areas. I personally think the traffic is worse now than when I first moved to Las Vegas but it is a breeze compared to Bay Area or Los Angeles traffic. People in Vegas also drive like idiots and take risks that I haven't seen other places. One plus about Las Vegas is the surface streets can handle a lot of traffic. I use Rainbow as a North/South alternate to I-15, and I also use Rancho to get from the NW to the Strip Corridor and D.I. (S.A.) for my East/West routes.

You mean like the cheerleaders that either don't live or just moved to LV?

Odd logic. If there weren't any Las Vegas traffic problems to begin with...why would "traffic gimmicks" be needed?

You are not that dense are you? The argument is that the bureaucracy is doing its thing mindlessly and they are not, in fact, needed.

And where did anyone write that there are no Las Vegas traffic problems?
