I know that I was down to 5 days within a month at YCS...6th day optional.

Are you saving for a car?

I liked driving a cab too....but I like making more money better!

Funny thing is that although both are 12 hour days...and driving a tanker is more physical, I'm not nearly as tired at the end of the day. It's because I don't have to stay "UP" to entertain the passengers.

Yeah this 6 12 hour days a week is killing me.
I'd rather work 5 14s.
Did you see how much the health insurance costs? It's insane.

What does it cost to renew the ta card? Mine expires today.

I think it's $15-20, I don't remember.

Yeah the insurance is expensive and doesn't cover anything.

Here, my insurance is $216/month and covers Med/den/vis and covers a lot.

Heck, they even provide work clothes and do the laundering.

Another thing is....if I get my stuff done early I can either grab another load or go home early.

Default Way to make good money driving a cab

Most of the posts I have seen here by taxi drivers are going about their job the wrong way. One thing you should know is after you make it thru the first 6 months at the company they will not fire you for low book. The company is too cheap to pay your unemployment. Yes they will call you in and maybe suspend you for a day or two but that is all. They try to pressure you to cheat your customers and most drivers fall for it.

The only way to make a livable wage comes with the kickbacks. To hell with worrying about the meter. I hear drivers all the time bragging about some $30 ride they got. Big deal. What did you make on that ride? About 10 bucks after they take out all the trip charges and taxes.

Instead, you have to focus on getting these tourists to the massage parlors or to the escort agency. This is the only way you will survive. Get a night shift and avoid picking up couples or families. Your only focus should be on getting that kickback. Push it with everybody, give your number for them to call you back later when they get drunk and horny and want a girl to their room.

Using this strategy you should be able to average at least $5000 a month. Yes some months might be less but averaged out over an entire year you should be getting this. I have been doing this for over 5 years and it is the only way you will be able to make a livable wage.
