Jordan River moving quoted $7800 (numerous complaints in the BBB website though so we passed), Mayflower $6600 and some other company I cant recall which quoted $6000 (all quotes were based on in home visits). We went with Mayflower and were very happy. A total of 8 guys showed up to wrap and load all the boxes and furniture--Nothing was damaged, they were here early and the quote matched the final cost to the penny.
Yup, used Mayflower without a hitch too

We got quotes from several moving companies to move a similar sized household from NJ to Atlanta, which is around the same distance. The quotes ranged from around $5,800 to $8,000, depending on how much weight each company figured.

We ended up renting two PODS, packing the boxes and stuff ourselves, and paying local movers to just load and unload the PODS. All in with the PODS rentals and the mover's services in and out, we were right around $4,000. It's another option to consider, and is especially helpful if you've got a delay between when your stuff needs to be out of your place in Seattle and when you need to move into your new place in Vegas. We had a 6-week lag, and the storage of the PODS for that time was included in the $4k, whereas storing for that long with a moving company would have added around $2,500 to the bill.

I must correct you JFK. The pilgrims used Mayflower, not Columbus. Remember elementary school, The Nina, The Pinta, and the Santa Maria?
