One problem with that is if/when you are no longer able to walk up the stairs without difficulty -- like my mother in law. She has a large 2nd story that is basically abandoned. And guess who gets to occasionally vacuum and dust?

She's lucky to have such a loving son-in-law.

By the way, would you please come vacuum our upstairs? Pretty please?

Buy a Dyson and a case of Pilsner Urquel and we'll talk. Oh, and a tank of gas. What else can I come up with?

That ain't nothing. My aging parents-in-law save all kinds of projects for my 2-3 times a year visit. This is to include yard maintenance, electrical work, plumbing maintenance, ceiling fan upgrades and soon to be wood staining.

Just recently my FIL asked if I was comfortable with pouring concrete. I haven't got back with him yet. Maybe he will forget that he asked, maybe not.

I do all that too, but mom lives a mile away and has my number on speed dial.

Congrats to the OP on getting the house.
I bought a one bedrm condo because I had to decide on garage
Vs the extra bedrm (needed I story, not as common as would think)
For the same reason as you didn't get the pool.
Had to hire someone Asap to changeout all the faucets/water
Related things due to hard water!
The handyman convinced me (correctly) that I couldn't begin to
Move in without shelves. There is no built in storage & prior owner
Even took garage shelves! It's a one car garage - never parked
In one. Fortunately it a small car

My cat & I are settling in - she's even estab @ a vet.
She lost a back yard w/ plants, lizards & birds. Maybe ill throw
A potted plant outside. I fenced her in because she escaped &
Went on other people's patios.
It's wierd here to me. People wig out over barking dogs but
Stealing gets laughs. Oh well. Happy that I missed the summer.
It's been beautiful weather.
I got all that buyer can pay appraisal difference too. And I couldn't.
Then I couldn't compete w/cash buyers as I financed. What a long
Process!!!!
My relator has been chiming In on this thread & I do believe
He knows what he's talking about.
That said, keep scoop LV take on it in your mind: no one will take
Care of you but yourself.
Enjoy your new home. Congratulations for sticking out the process.
